About the Author

Toyin Akanni is a British-Nigerian Author, Environmentalist, Educator, and Speaker. She holds a Masters degree in Environmental Science from Brunel University and a Creative Writing Diploma from the University of Cambridge.

Her picture books create environmental awareness and offer an engaging way to teach children about environmental concerns.

She launched her latest book, ‘Barki and the Forest Fire’ at the prestigious Emirates Literature Festival in 2024. She was also invited as a guest speaker and panelist at the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival on the topic of ‘Teaching Children about Climate Change.’

Toyin enjoys visiting schools and facilitating storytelling workshops to promote sustainability and improve environmental consciousness. In her free time, she loves baking and listening to music. She currently resides in the UAE with her husband and three children.
