Okey Anueyiagu was born in Kano, Northern Nigeria. He graduated with Honours from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He studied and earned post-graduate degrees in Political Science and Economics from the University of Rochester, New York, and Fordham University in New York.
He was a pioneer staff member of the old Anambra State University of Technology. A teacher, an entrepreneur, an art collector and a philanthropist, Okey Anueyiagu has written extensively on politics, economics and art, and has promoted his Okey Anueyiagu Foundation (okeyanueyiagufoundation.org), which has embarked on the building of schools, healthcare facilities and other amenities for the poor in rural areas.
He is currently a visiting Professor to Gregory University, and Nnamdi Azikiwe University. An art lover, he has promoted and sponsored various International Exhibitions of Contemporary African Art. He is married to Hadiza, a lawyer, and has three daughters, Tochi, Ebele and Dera and twin boys, Aka and Arize.
