About the Author

Dr. John Anakwenze was born in Okwe, Nigeria. He studied medicine at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, where his education was briefly interrupted by the Nigerian Civil War (1967–1970). Despite the challenges of that period, he persevered and qualified as a medical doctor in 1973.

Upon graduation, he practiced in Enugu for some time before travelling to the United Kingdom on an East Central State Government Scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies. He returned to Nigeria and lectured in nuclear medicine at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu, from 1985 until 1990.

In 1990, he returned to the United Kingdom, where he continued his distinguished medical career, ultimately serving as a locum consultant physician in geriatric medicine until his retirement.

Dr. Anakwenze is married and blessed with seven children. He enjoys travelling and reading in his spare time.
