Dr. Sosunmolu Shoyinka is an award-winning, psychiatrist, author, and speaker, who trained at Yale, Columbia and NYU and holds an MBA from the Kelley School of Business. His career has focused on promoting access to quality mental health for all populations, particularly the underserved. He currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer for Philadelphia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS), a role in which he oversees population health policy for the city of Philadelphia. He holds an appointment as a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania and is recognized as a national thought leader in Public Mental Health.
Dr Shoyinka was awarded a Special Presidential Commendation and the Jeanne Spurlock Minority Fellowship Achievement Award by the American Psychiatric Association. He has been recognized as a Black leader shaping the future of psychiatry by the Scattergood Foundation. He has been a featured speaker at local, national and international conferences.
He is married to Kemi Shoyinka, Pharm D, MSc. They live in the Greater Philadelphia area with their 3 children.
