About the Author

Bernice Asein is a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, and the founder and Executive Director of the Fashion Law Institute, Africa’s first and foremost institution bridging law and fashion. She is also the Lead Counsel at Cardinal Counsel, where she advises fashion brands, manufacturers, models, influencers, and fashion tech startups across Africa. Her legal expertise spans intellectual property, startup law, contracts, sustainability, and policy innovation.

Asein holds specialized training in Fashion Law from the prestigious Milano Fashion Institute in Milan, Italy, and a certificate in Operations & Supply Chain, Retail & Customer Experience from LVMH. Her academic portfolio includes certifications in intellectual property law from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Intellectual Property Institute of Nigeria, as well as a certificate in tax law from the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

She is an active member of several professional bodies including the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), and the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators. Bernice is currently pursuing an LL.M. at Babcock University and further studies at the School of Politics, Policy, and Governance.

Recognized for her visionary contributions, she is a nominee of The Future Awards Africa Prize in Law and the Global Leadership Institute. With a dual background in fashion and law, Bernice empowers brands through legal education, policy advocacy, and strategic advisory advancing Africa’s creative economy through law and leadership.
