About the Author

NANNA DASHE YAKUBU. PSLC NIPSS, FHTI, FITPN is the Zonal Coordinator of Nigerian Tourism Development An Authority North Central Zone, Jos. A seasoned tourism professional and an Author of the book “Introduction to Tourism Studies for Schools and Colleges” published in the year 2020, has been assessed by the Federal Ministry of Education (NERDC) and is an approved textbook for schools in Nigeria.
Nanna has served in and chaired several committees on tourism, culture, and travel at the Federal, State, and Community levels.
She is one of the tourism resource persons for Nigeria Education Research and Development Council for the planning workshop for the development of 18 trade entrepreneur subjects for Senior Secondary Schools. The writing and infusion workshop for the review of 34 entrepreneurship curriculums, the editorial workshop for the review of entrepreneurship curriculum, and the teacher’s guide development workshop.
She is also an external Examiner for the Department of Tourism & Leisure Studies Plateau State Polytechnic.
Nanna has received Eleven awards amongst which are the 2020 100 Top Tourism Personalities in Nigeria by ATQ.
Special Recognition award of Industry Icon, Balearica awards by Nigeria Travel awards.
Fellowship award by National Institute for Hotels and Tourism NIHOTOUR; 10 April 2023
Fellowship award by Institute for Tourism Professionals of Nigeria ITPN 20th April 2023

The NTDA where she works awarded her in 2022 Staff of the Year North Central and has commended her several times through Letters for articulation, hard work, zeal, and competence.
Nanna has done various courses on tourism and leadership, amongst which are professional certificate in tour guiding by NIHOTOUR.

Nanna’s goal is to contribute to the development of tourism through her book to encourage tourism studies early in Nigerian Schools, by so doing, she has started by encouraging the use of her book in secondary schools nationwide and also initiated a pet project (a tourism exhibition room) named after her at the School for the Gifted Gwagwalada-Abuja to help students who picked tourism as their entrepreneurial subject with the practical knowledge of tourism.
She desires to see tourism at the Secondary School level spread across schools in Nigeria to prepare students to gain professional and practical skills that will lead to decent work for socio-economic development.
Nanna is a passionate Hiker. She has been able to bring together over twenty hike groups in Plateau State under one umbrella, registered with CAC as an association named Plateau Hikers and Tour Association: ‘Tour’ being an acronym for Outdoor Recreation. The aim is to regulate and improve hiking activities for sustainable growth.
She is a mother of one and a foster mother to many and also mentors youths.
