Oluwemimo Ogunde (professionally known as Oluwemimo Adepoju Rovell, O.A.R Ogunde) was born on September 3rd 1958, in lagos, Nigeria. He was educated at Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos, and the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Law in June 1982.
He was called to the Nigerian Bar in July 1983. Mr Ogunde served as an associate in Gani Fawehinmi’s Chambers from August 1984 until August 1987, when he, together with two friends, established Abudu, Akinyemi & Ogunde in August 1987.
In July 1999, the partnership was dissolved by mutual consent, after which Mr Ogunde established Wemimo Ogunde & Co., where he still practises as Principal Counsel. He was elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2010 and later served as Attorney-General of Ogun State from July 2011 until February 2013.
Mr Ogunde was a member of the Body of Benchers, the General Council of the Bar and the Council of Legal Education from 2011 until 2013.
He is also a patron of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ikeja and Ijebu-Ode branches. Mr Ogunde’s firm established a trainee counsel programme in 2013, which has trained many young lawyers in the rudiments of lawyering skills.
He is a regular speaker at law conferences and seminars both in Nigeria and abroad.
He is happily married to Olayinka Ogunde, and they have three beautiful children and many grandchildren.
