The book which was a foreword by The Founder/CEO of Cable Newspaper, Simon Kolawole, has 10 chapters that harped on the imperative of visioning, leadership, youth participation, and active citizenship.
In the book, it is my argument that Nigeria has struggled with development over the years because of the absence of a national vision, which I described as the minimal and irreducible promise of the government to its people. I have proposed three planks (prosperity, protection, and liberty), upon which to interrogate Nigeria’s past, strategize in the present and launch forward into the future. Prosperity – investment in the productive capacities of the people, Protection – lives must matter, Liberty – government’s commitment to guarantee all rights.
It is my conviction that for Nigerians to have a connection with the country, beyond their certificate of birth, ancestry, and origin, it must first be about a promise that guarantees citizens prosperity, protection, and liberty. The book also goes further to locate the youth agenda, describing vision as the purview of young people.
